Assisted Computing Zoom Launcher Trial The world now depends on Zoom meetings. Young users don’t have much trouble keeping track of their links, but many seniors find it quite challenging to remembering where all the links are, and which link goes to which meeting. To simplify this operation for them, I’ve built an ultra-simple remotely-configured Zoom launcher web app. It runs in a browser, so it works on any platform – Mac or Windows, Android or iOS, tablet or phone. Here are some screen shots: Launcher on PCLauncher on iOSLauncher on Android To join a Zoom meeting, the user starts the launcher app by clicking a single icon, generally stored on their desktop or home screen. They then see a set of buttons containing large text titles. So they only have to remember one desktop or homepage icon, rather than a collection of links in various emails that move around confusingly. It’s a small improvement, but removing this choke point will lead to much more connection and participation, for people who suffer greatly from their lack. An Assistor performs the configuration for the user – entering the button text and Zoom links. The assistor does this remotely, without needing to touch, or even connect to, the user’s devices. The assistor’s configuration screen looks like this: We’re running a public test on this application to see how people like it. It is free, and open to the public. The user needs very little computing experience, and the assistor not much more. We have a limit of 100 spaces.
